How It Works
-
Consultation — We talk about your work, your goals, what you need the writing to do.
-
Draft — I write a first draft based on our conversation and any materials you provide.
-
Revision — You give feedback, I revise. Usually 1-2 rounds gets us where we need to be.
-
Final — You get polished, professional text ready to use.
Investment
-
$1 per word — Most artist statements run 250-500 words ($250-500). Bios 150-300 words ($150-300). Catalog essays and longer projects priced individually.
-
I also offer package rates for artists who need multiple pieces (statement + bio + press release, for example).
Why Work With Me
I'm an artist, curator, and arts mentor with an MA in Studio Art and Art History. I've been making art for decades and running Shoebox Arts, supporting emerging and mid-career artists in LA.
I understand the struggle of translating visual work into words. I know what grant panels want to read. I've written for exhibitions, catalogs, and publications.
But most importantly: I listen. Your work is unique. Your voice matters. I'm not here to impose some generic art-speak on your practice—I'm here to help you articulate what you're already doing in language that feels authentic.
