Making America Shop

There's something powerful about our hands creating the flag. This show is about taking back the flag - honoring what America can be through the act of making it ourselves. Your interpretation, your hands, your voice matter.

In a moment when the flag feels contested, when its meaning seems to belong to one narrative or another, we're asking: what happens when we physically make it? When we choose the materials, the colors, the textures? When we decide what stars mean, what stripes represent?

This isn't about one definition of America. It's about all of us making it, literally and figuratively.

Through paint, fabric, assemblage, collage, sculpture, mixed media - each flag becomes a conversation about what we're building together.

We're filling the walls at Shoebox over the next few months and holding community gatherings every 2-3 weeks. Not a traditional opening and closing, but ongoing conversations around the work as it evolves. Because this isn't a finished statement - it's a process of making and remaking what the flag means.
