Steve Seleska: At the Intersection of Art and Science

This week we share the fascinating and intricate work of Steve Seleska. He has recently been written about in Art and Cake and Diversions LA.

Artist Statement My work explores human events and consciousness through the lenses of time and space. Looking at both micro and macro levels, the multiple layers of epoxy resin give rise to an intricate dimensionality. Reactions between oil, acrylic, resin and other chemical compounds hold evidence of interconnectedness and reflect transformation. This intention invites the viewer to consider their relationship to our mysterious, precarious existence. My subject matter combines the representational and abstract. Together these elements create a transcendent aesthetic — an environment that is there and simultaneously not there.

I try to engage and understand the complexities of life through the exploration of human events, quantum theories, the cosmos, and molecular levels. I examine the psychological space of a moment in time on all levels of life, there by exploring the physical and non-physical and their relationship to our fragile existence.
