We Choose Art presents Shades of Water at The Montalban

We Choose Art: Shades of Water

The Montalban in Hollywood

SHADES OF WATER will run through November 16th – January 31st.

We Choose Art presents Shades of Water, an exhibition honoring the vitality of water in the current landscape. With climate change and the pollution of oceans at the forefront of modern environmental challenges, Shades of Water, curated by Baha H. Danesh, is highly prescient. As urgent as it is beautiful, the exhibition features painting, sculpture, photography, fiber works, and installation art in a show paired with an annual Toy Drive held by We Choose Art, benefitting MEND Poverty.

Opening Friday, November 16th at the Montalban Mezz Gallery in Hollywood, the group show documents images of water and its importance, expanding upon and encouraging conversation on both climate change and sustainable energy.

Featured artists include Amabelle Aguiluz, Barbara A. Thomason, CanLove, Chenhung Chen, Daggi Wallace, Eric Minh Swenson, Felís Stella, Joan Scheibel, Joelle Cooperrider, Karen Hochman Brown, Kellie Walker, Kristine Schomaker, Margaret Hyde, Rebecca Laws, Scott Froschauer, Susan Poms Amorde, and Winston M. Secrest.

From ArtSlant Showcase award winner Joan Scheibel’s contemporary abstract work to the contemporary realism of pastel artist Daggi Wallace, and the sculptural work of Scott Froschauer, a wide array of fresh, vibrant artwork awaits attendees. Chenhung Chen’s found and mixed media sculptures and wall art often employ copper wire and electric cords. Working in video and photography, Eric Minh Swenson’s art seeks to immerse viewers in powerful images. Photographic, installation, and mixed media artist Kristine Schomaker displays a lush abstract painting; sculptor and installation artist Susan Poms Amorde’s offers an exciting mixed media work; and the swirling kaleidoscopic patterns of Karen Hochman Brown are all among the cutting-edge art to be displayed at the exhibition.

The students of Birmingham Community Charter High School in Van Nuys will present eco-friendly art and their entry in Heinekin’s Green Bottle Design Challenge.

Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door; for more information email: ShadesOfWaterExhibit@gmail.com

All tickets include one complimentary drink before 8 p.m.

Guests are strongly encouraged to bring a toy for the MEND Poverty benefit toy drive.
